Kirti Mandir - Portrait
Sean Kelly
Kirti strongly believes that sculpture has no worth unless it has its own vitality of life and that the sculpture itself should speak.
In much of Kirti's figurative work, he tries to maintain realism rather than abstracting the original form. His sculptures can be described as 'photo real' although they are much more than that. Capturing expression, movement, character and features, in order to bring out the inner quality of the person in his work, is very important to Kirti. As a former medical student, Kirti is very aware of the anatomy and proportion in his subjects and this is reflected in his very vital compositions.
